Rtn. Ashok Mulkraj Mahajan, a member of Rotary Club of Mulund, Mumbai India has been involved in Rotary since 01st July, 1973 and has risen from an ordinary member to the coveted position of R.I. Director 2007-2009 by sheer dint of commitment, compassion and consistency.

Born nearly 59 years ago, he passed his B.E. (Electrical) from Bombay University standing in the merit list of the university.

He then took Diploma in Operation Management and Diploma in Business Management of Bombay University - again obtaining distinction.

Currenty he runs an Industry manufacturing electrical and electronic components.

Ashok Mahajan's achievements are so numerous that it will fill pages to enumerate them. The most prestigious assignment begins with his Presidentship of R.C. Mulund in 1982-83 culminating in the office of District Governor District 3140 in 1993-94. His major achievements as a District Governor include the formation of 20 new clubs - the highest in Rotary world in that year. He also was responsible for chartering 26 Rotaract clubs, 27 Interact clubs and 23 RCCs. The collection for the Rotary Foundation exceeded U.S. $ 2,36,000 - the highest in Asia Zone II that year.

Latur earthquake saw his ability to collect over Rs. 54 lacs for the quake affected victim-again a record for Rotary Districts in India. His District Conference was one of the most memorable one with many well-known dignitaries addressing the Conference. Such was the impact of the District Conference that press and the media world of India, Sri lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and even U.K. had given Conference a good name and BBC covered it under its "Asia Today" program. The period from 1994-95 to this date also witnessed Goliath achievements. He has been R.I. President's special representative to District Conferences Five times.

He was appointed Zonal Coordinator - Membership Task Force in 1995-96 & again in 1998-99.

His involvement in Polio Plus Program has been widespread. He has been with National Polio Plus Committee for about 9 years and is still its member. He served as Zonal coordinator-Avoidable Blindness Task Force in 2000-2002, Campaign Associate Rotary UNF private sector campaign, Member World Affair Committee-Asian 2003-05, Member India Presidential Polio Plus Summit 2001-02.

He was Distt. 3140's representative to 2001 Council on Legislation held at Chicago.

He has received Rotary Foundation's Highest award-Distinguished Service Award, Rotary's Highest award-Service above Self Award and Regional Service Award for a Polio free world. Past R.I. President Herb Brown & Luis V. Giay recognized him for his contribution to Rotary when he was awarded the Golden century Award.

A major donor to TRF a multiple PHF and a benefactor, his entire family is recognized as P.H.Fs.

Outside Rotary too, he has served the society in many ways. Punjab Kesari Club, Council for Fair business practices, International Institute of Management, Civil Defense Advisory Committee are a few of his areas of interest.

Wife Nayantara is a silent but solid supporter who walks hand in hand with his commitments. She is a Past President of Inner Wheel Club of Mulund.

Children : Son Nikhil & daughter Namrata have given him encouragement and motivational support.
